Bill Withers’ ‘Grandma’s Hands’ Released As Illustrated Book & Animated Music Video
“Grandma’s Hands” has been released as an illustrated book and animated music video.
The stunning 32-page picture book brings the iconic Bill Withers song “Grandma’s Hands” to life with vivid, emotive illustrations by multiple award- winning artist R. Gregory Christie, depicting a young Bill finding comfort and unconditional love in his grandmother’s care. It’s a universal message highlighting the impact our elders have on shaping who we become.
Sony Music’s Legacy Recordings enlisted Martian Blueberry, an award winning creative agency specializing in animation and cofounded by Carl Jones (renowned for producing Adult Swim’s The Boondocks, and Black Dynamite) to bring the book to life via a short music video. The music features a new version of “Grandma’s Hands” with Bill’s daughter, Kori Withers.
