Beautiful Ballads
As hard-driving as the Isley Brothers funk could be, they had no problem turning around and embracing the sexiest and most seductive of love songs. Given how popular the Isleys love songs were, it's surprising that Sony waited until 1995 to release a collection of their ballads and slow jams. Beautiful Ballads ranges from obvious selections like "Don't Say Goodnight (It's Time for Love)" to "Choosey Lover" to songs that weren't major hits but should have been, such as the hauntingly gorgeous "Voyage to Atlantis" and their silky interpretation of Todd Rundgren s "Hello, It's Me." There are a few glaring omissions -- what was Sony thinking of by not including "For the Love of You" or "Between the Sheets" But the songs that are included make for powerful listening. ~ Alex Henderson, All Music Guide
