I Am
Nearly 25 years after its initial release, I Am still rings true as one of Earth, Wind & Fire s most important releases of their lengthy career. A fusion of their signature sound with the current trends of the time (namely, disco and the emergence of the quiet storm format), I Am isn't the most definitive release in the EWF catalog, but no question it is one of their most well-known, thanks in no small part to the disco smash "Boogie Wonderland," which remains one of their most beloved and recognized songs to this day. This reissue also includes the enchantingly beautiful, previously unreleased ballad "Diana" as well as a bonus jam with legendary bluesman Junior Wells While remastering I Am would have definitely been a strong bonus to this reissue, it still remains an essential piece for the die-hard EWF fan and a solid starting point for the curious listener unfamiliar with their legendary output. ~ Rob Theakston, All Music Guide
